2nd IAYT Symposium on Yoga Therapy and Research |
For 3 ½ days IAYT’s SYTAR will present a broad spectrum of professional education as well as address a wide variety of challenges and opportunities facing the contemporary practice of Yoga therapy. SYTAR also showcases important new research and addresses business and public policy issues facing Yoga as an emerging complementary healthcare discipline.
SYTAR continues to bring together the teachings of many distinguished Yoga teachers, therapists, lineages and schools in support of a tradition of fellowship among peers and across methodologies
The Symposium will again provide numerous opportunities for attendees to meet many leading experts from over 30 confirmed speakers. Some of the features of the SYTAR 2008 program include:
Main sessions. Major program topics, presented in the morning main sessions will be attended by all symposium participants. This provides a shared experience for all attendees, and encourages attendees to participate in discussions and build bridges across disciplines.
Track sessions. The three concurrent afternoon track sessions will address structural, physiological and psycho-spiritual challenges. These track sessions are designed to provide more in-depth education and group participation.
Afternoon practice sessions. Seven concurrent experiential sessions on Friday and Saturday afternoon provide for Yoga practice and discussion in smaller groups. These practice sessions support and supplement the topics presented during the main session and track sessions.
Morning practice sessions. SYTAR 2008 presenters will lead morning practice sessions. A private area will also be provided for individual practice.
Pre-symposium intensives (workshops). We invite you to select one of eight optional Thursday afternoon intensives on contemporary topics led by noted experts. One of these will be focused on research in Yoga therapy and aimed at emerging researchers and those interested in understanding Yoga research.
